Overview

BAI, a defense contractor, is seeking a Software Developer – System Software at the Journeyman for our expanding workforce supporting current and evolving Naval Air mission planning, ELINT, and Electronic Warfare (EW)  systems at the Point Mugu Naval Base in Camarillo, CA. Salary

The typical annual salary range for this position is $115,000.00 USD to $120,000.00 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for military, communications:
  • Aerospace, scientific, and general computing applications
  • Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements
  • May design embedded systems software
  • Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis
  • Working at the customers site with government personnel to ensure program success
  • Identify system requirements
  • Provide clear and unambiguous requirements to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for correction and designs for EW systems such as APR-39, ALR-67 and ALQ-214 programs along with the evaluation and analysis of system performance
  • Review and provide input to the OEM Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and witnessing the ATP at the OEM facility
  • Test and validate the Operational Flight Program (OFP) and the Mission Data File for the APR-39, ALR-67(V)3 and ALQ-214
  • As part of the test, be responsible for the test planning, identifying resources required, and execute the test
  • Generate a test report in accordance with the current Integrated Product Team’s (IPT) processes
  • Document any defect found during testing using the Defect Management Database
  • At the end of each test segment/period, conduct an Engineering Review Board (ERB)
  • Write and update intermediate and final technical documents including system requirements and design specifications/documents, white papers, and engineering notes.
  • Participate in project related meetings (milestone reviews, status, design, etc.)
  • Host and conduct technical meetings and teleconferences

 

Qualifications

  • Between 3+ years of experience performing the duties described in the Responsibilities description
  • Experience with Visual Studio development environment software
  • Experience with C++, C#, Microsoft ActiveX; and Python object or component oriented development software
  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux operating systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening—for staff, customer and organizational level communications, both formal and informal
  • Ability to work independently; self-starter
  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

EDUCATION

Degree: BS or BA degree in a Computer or Information Science field or a relevant technical discipline.

Allowable Substitution: An additional 6 years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree, or 4 additional years of work experience with a relevant Associate’s Degree.

CLEARANCE – Secret

Condition of Employment:  Applicant must have an active DoD Secret Clearance. The applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
