Overview

Brandes Associates Inc. (BAI), a Defense contractor, seeks Senior Systems Engineer Code Evaluators with 3-10 years experience for classified programs, working onsite at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in Camarillo, CA.

 

Salary

$100,000.00 USD to $140,000.00 USD is the typical annual salary range for this position. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.

Responsibilities

  • Electronic Warfare, Involves the integrated use of a wide variety of systems, equipment, and techniques to degrade the performance of enemy systems and to enhance the performance of our systems in the face of enemy countermeasures. Techniques and systems used may be electromagnetic, optical, acoustic, etc.
  • Special knowledge requirements include a broad under-standing of electronic warfare principles and practices, performance and design characteristics of U.S. and foreign surveillance, communications, command control and weapons systems, system modeling and simulation, jamming techniques and equipment, and overall systems engineering

 

Functional Description:

  • Apply Systems Engineering knowledge to develop requirements, write specifications, and conduct research and trade studies to validate requirements to support Naval acquisition programs
  • As Systems Engineering Project Lead
    • Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of system engineering projects
    • Monitor, confront risk, and manage the technical baseline of products under development
  • Apply knowledge of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems designed and built for use on air platforms; and air platform Radio Frequency (RF) principles, to include system and subsystem-level analysis methodologies – while working in a test lab environment
  • Identify system requirements; provide clear and unambiguous requirements to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for correction and designs for EW systems such as ALR-67 and ALQ-214 programs along with the evaluation and analysis of system performance
  • Review and provide input to the OEM Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and witnessing the ATP at the OEM facility
  • Testing and validating the Operational Flight Program (OFP) and the Mission Data File for the ALR-67(V)3 and ALQ-214. As part of the test, the engineer will be responsible for the test planning, identifying resources required, and execute the test
  • Generate a test report in accordance with the current MDEWSSA IPT processes
  • Document any defect found during testing using the Defect Management Database. At the end of each test segment/period, the engineer will be responsible for conducting an Engineering Review Board (ERB)
  • Writing and updating intermediate and final technical documents including system requirements and design specifications/documents, white papers, and engineering notes
  • Participate in project related meetings (milestone reviews, status, design, etc.), and both host and conduct technical meetings and teleconferences
  • Interface with stakeholders and work on a collaborative team to design or improve EW technology on US Navy airborne platforms
  • Use MS Project as the primary tool to plan and manage schedules, budgets, and apply earned value management (EVM)

Qualifications

  • Between 3 and 10 years of experience performing the duties described in the functional description
  • Experience with airborne Electronic Warfare (EW) and Radio Frequency (RF) systems is a plus
  • Software-related experience with Visual Studio to program in C++ and C#; and IntelliJ for programming in Java is a plus
  • Knowledge of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening—for staff, customer, and organizational level communications, both formal and informal
  • Experience applying EVM to measure project performance (planned and actual) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently or lead a small team, self-starter
  • Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Project, MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Education:

BS or BA degree in Engineering

  • To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

 

Clearance:

Condition of employment - must have and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.  Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
